Performing an Inspection in the Otuvy QM v2 Mobile App

Notes
Note: This article applies to the Otuvy QM v2 mobile app (the supported app). During the transition period, the original app may still appear on devices as Otuvy QM until it is shut off.

The Otuvy QM v2 mobile app keeps the inspection flow familiar while making it simpler to move through each step. You will still score services, answer any required questions, add notes, and sign off, but the process is more streamlined and easier to follow in the field.

Before You Start

Before beginning an inspection:

  1. Make sure you are logged into the Otuvy QM v2 mobile app.
  2. Download the service location if you may need to work offline.
  3. Confirm you are at the correct service location before starting.

Get to the Service Locations List

There are two common ways to get to inspections from the Home screen.

Option 1: Start from the Inspections section on the Home screen

  1. Open the Home screen.
  2. In the Inspections section, tap View Service Locations.
  3. Select the service location you want to inspect.

Option 2: Start from a favorite location on the Home screen

If the service location is listed on your Home screen as a favorite, you can open it there and begin more quickly.

Start the Inspection

Once you are on the service location:

  1. Tap Do Inspections.
  2. If your company uses inspection template types, choose the correct template type.
  3. If applicable, choose the needed inspection setup options.

Depending on how your account is configured, setup may include items such as:

  • Internal or External
  • Job templates
  • Custom question templates
  • Sublocation, section, or area selection

Choose Where to Begin

Before the inspection opens, you may be asked where you want to start.

You may see:

  • Sublocations
  • Sections
  • Areas

Areas are always part of the inspection flow. Sublocations and sections only appear if they are set up for that service location.

Choose the part of the location you want to inspect, then tap Start Inspection.

Understand the Inspection Tabs

The inspection tabs appear along the bottom of the inspection screen, above the main app navigation.

From left to right, the tabs are:

  1. Services
  2. Questions
  3. Notes
  4. Sign Off

A typical inspection follows that same order.

Services Tab

The Services tab is where you complete the main scoring work of the inspection.

Services are grouped in a more organized way so the inspection is easier to follow as you move through the building.

Score a service

  1. Tap the service you want to rate.
  2. Choose the appropriate score.
  3. Add details as needed.

Add details to a service

A service can have one detail or multiple details.

Each detail can include:

  • A score
  • A note
  • A photo

This helps you document multiple findings for the same service when needed.

If you add another detail, the app makes it easier to continue documenting without losing the detail you were already working on.

Edit an existing detail

New clarity: If you need to update something you already entered, you can edit the existing detail instead of creating a new one.

To edit a detail:

  1. Tap the service.
  2. Tap Details.
  3. Select the existing detail you want to update.
  4. Tap the field you want to change:
    • Score
    • Photo
    • Note
  5. Make your update.

This updates the existing detail rather than adding a new one, helping keep your inspection clean and accurate.

Add and annotate photos

New: The photo experience has been improved to make documentation clearer and more actionable.

When adding a photo to a service detail:

  1. Take a new photo or upload one from your device.
  2. After the photo has been added, tap the camera icon on the image to open the preview.
  3. In the preview screen, tap Edit.
  4. Use the annotation tools to mark up the image.

You can annotate inspection photos with:

  • Text
  • Freeform drawing
  • Squares
  • Circles

This allows you to clearly highlight issues, call out problem areas, and provide better visual communication in your reports.

Use filters during the inspection

New: Filters make it easier to focus on specific parts of the inspection and track your progress.

You can filter services by:

  • Sublocation
  • Section
  • SSA

To use filters:

  1. Open the filter options from the Services view.
  2. Select the sublocation, section, or SSA you want to focus on.

As you apply filters, the app shows how many services are in that group and how many have already been rated.

This helps you quickly identify what is complete and what still needs attention before moving on.

Note: Filters only appear if they are configured for that service location.

  • If your location is using an SSA template, the SSA filter will be available and toggled on by default.
  • If your location is not using an SSA template, the SSA filter will not appear.
  • The same applies to sublocation and section filters. If they are not set up for the location, those filters will not be available.

When the SSA filter is on, any services that are not assigned to an SSA will not appear when viewing services at the sublocation or section level.

If you are not seeing expected services, check your filter settings first.

Mark unrated items efficiently

During an inspection, it is important to make sure no services are left unrated.

You can use available tools to quickly identify and handle unrated services so nothing is missed.

This becomes especially important when you are finishing the inspection and preparing to sign off.

Review progress while you inspect

The app updates your progress as you move through services.

This helps you:

  • See what has already been rated
  • Identify what still needs attention
  • Resume more easily if you are interrupted

If you save an inspection and come back later, the most recent score and detail you entered will still be visible so it is easier to continue where you left off.

Questions Tab

If custom question templates are assigned to the inspection, complete them on the Questions tab.

Keep in mind:

  • Some inspections will not include questions
  • Required questions must be answered before the inspection can be submitted
  • If more than one custom question template is assigned, complete all applicable questions

Notes Tab

Use the Notes tab to add inspection-level notes.

These notes apply to the overall inspection, not just one specific service.

This is the right place for summary comments, overall observations, or any context you want tied to the inspection as a whole.

Sign Off Tab

The Sign Off tab is the final step before submission.

On this page, you can review and complete final inspection items such as:

  • Inspection score
  • Tracking item score, if your company uses tracking items
  • Internal or External selection, if enabled
  • Unrated item handling

Handle unrated items before submitting

New: If any services are still unrated, the Sign Off page provides a faster way to handle them.

You will be able to mark unrated items in bulk using:

  • Default
  • N/A
  • Partial

Recommended approach:

  • Choose Default if you are inspecting everything but only scoring items that have issues.
  • Choose N/A if you are actively scoring every service you inspect.

A good rule of thumb:

  • If you inspect everything and only score the things that are bad, use Default.
  • If you are scoring everything you inspect, use N/A.

Partial should be used more selectively depending on your company’s scoring practices.

Submit the inspection

After reviewing the Sign Off page:

  1. Complete the sign off information.
  2. Confirm all required questions and scoring are complete.
  3. Tap Submit.

After You Submit

Once submitted:

  • The inspection completes without making you wait on a separate upload screen
  • Upload happens in the background
  • If you are offline, the completed inspection is saved on your device and will upload automatically when your connection returns
  • The app regularly attempts syncs in the background

If you need to check whether a completed inspection is still waiting to upload, open Sync Details from the menu.

Helpful Tips

  • Download service locations ahead of time if you expect to be offline.
  • Use filters during the inspection to stay focused and make progress easier to track.
  • Review the Questions and Notes tabs before signing off so nothing is missed.
  • If you leave an inspection unfinished, you can come back to it later.
  • When reopening a saved inspection, your most recent score and detail remain visible.
